About Domaine Alex Gambal
When he started his business, Alex Gambal wanted to create a small n gociant company with a focus on high quality. Compared to the big n gociants Maison Alex Gambal is very small. While the big houses count their production in millions of bottles Gambal's output is around 60000 bottles a year. The plan is to stay small and maybe buy some more land to add to the two hectares he owns today. Because of his passion for Burgundy, Alex Gambal left the world of real estate to explore the fascinating wine region. After attending viticultural school in Beaune, he created Domaine Alex Gambal in 1997 intending to express the character, terroir, and purity of each wine. The domaine's winemaking is practical and based on traditional Burgundy practices- the whites are barrel fermented and both red and white wines are matured on their lees with just one racking before bottling. Alex Gambal firmly believes that there are no great wines without great grapes, and thus focuses on the vineyard and the work necessary to harvest the ripest, healthiest grapes possible. They allow nature to express each vintage uniquely, by using indigenous yeasts naturally found on the grapes.
