About Brezza
The Brezza private estate lies next to the small town of Barolo, immersed in the vineyards, as is the nearby Hotel Barolo and Restaurant Brezza, also property of the Brezza family. The estate extends over 31 hectares, of which 20 are vineyards, some dating back to 1885. Appropriate pruning and thinning we practice green manure that enhances the vitality of the soil. In fact, some of our vineyards are at the age of 70 years and still producing healthy grapes. We use light machinery (4 wheelers) that help to reduce the compaction of the soil and consume less fuel. Our wine goes through spontaneous fermentation from the natural yeasts (both alcoholic and malolactic) and are aged traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks of 3000 litre that are not toasted. All the wines that spend time in the oak are not filtered or refined. Ten years ago, we decided to use an innovative glass stopper that we believe provides and extra guarantee in respect of the characteristic of our wines. Made of glass tempered at 500 C, then pressed and boiled, it is one hundred times more resistant than the wine bottle itself, and it provides a hermetic seal, thanks to a ring gasket in a neutral material (Elvax), containing no PVC, which also will not abrade the bottle. The gasket comes into contact with the wine in a space that constitutes only 3% of the open surface of the bottle, effectively keeping oxygen from entering. Thanks to these new glass seals, the disaster of unpleasant problems created by the cork has been finally eliminated.
