About Bruno Rocca

Bruno Rocca is a boutique, family-run winery of about 12.5 hectares of vineyards in Barbaresco and Neive, as well as 3 hectares of vineyard in Vaglio Serra, Monferrato, from which they make Barbera d Asti d.o.c.g. In the 1970s, Bruno Rocca took over management of the vineyards and winemaking, intending to raise the quality of the wines produced and to make the most of the extraordinary family cru, Rabaj . Bruno s goal is to respect an ecosystem that maintains a natural equilibrium that is protected from pollution and other factors that could alter its natural cycle. They do not use synthetic fertilizers or treatments, instead, they prefer to encourage biodiversity. In the cellar, they only select casks that have been seasoned for a minimum of 40 months, dried in the open air without mechanical means, and are suited to enhancing the natural evolution of their wines. Only native yeasts are used during fermentation. Clay and limestone soils are essential to cultivating a vineyard of Nebbiolo grapes for Barbaresco. The soil is characterized by white tuffaceous marl mixed with grey-blue marl with veins of sand: in other words, soil rich in limestone and microelements that are ideal for cultivating Nebbiolo. Today, Bruno Rocca s children Luisa and Francesco work alongside him in the family business, to keep faith in the family history and the land of origins; to respect the earth and cherish its vines, and to produce wine with an extraordinary balance between nature s rhythms and the work of man.
