About Domaine Faiveley

Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s largest and most historic family-owned wine estates, established in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Now led by Erwan Faiveley, the seventh generation, the domaine continues its legacy of excellence through a combination of tradition and innovation. The estate covers more than 120 hectares, with exceptional holdings in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, including prestigious Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards such as Clos de Vougeot, Corton, and Gevrey-Chambertin.

Faiveley’s approach to viticulture emphasizes respect for terroir and sustainable practices. The vineyards are cultivated with minimal intervention, employing organic methods wherever possible and carefully managing yields to ensure concentration and purity in the wines. Hand-harvesting and meticulous sorting guarantee that only the best fruit is used. In the cellar, the philosophy is to let each vineyard speak for itself. Vinification is tailored to each parcel, with fermentation in small, temperature-controlled vats and aging in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, sourced from the estate’s own cooperage.

The range of wines produced by Domaine Faiveley is extensive, reflecting the diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs. The reds, primarily Pinot Noir, are known for their structure, depth, and aging potential, expressing the nuances of each vineyard site. The whites, mainly Chardonnay, are marked by precision, minerality, and elegance. Signature wines include Clos des Cortons Faiveley, a rare Grand Cru monopole, and other celebrated crus such as Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Echézeaux, and Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts.

In recent years, significant investment in both vineyard management and winemaking facilities has elevated the quality of Faiveley wines. Modernization of the winery, including the installation of gravity-flow systems and temperature-controlled cellars, has enabled greater finesse and consistency. The estate’s commitment to excellence is also evident in its ongoing acquisition of prime vineyard parcels, further enhancing its portfolio.

Domaine Faiveley’s wines are highly sought after worldwide, prized for their authenticity and ability to age gracefully. The estate maintains a strong presence in both traditional and emerging markets, with a philosophy rooted in family heritage and a forward-looking vision. Erwan Faiveley’s leadership has brought a renewed energy, focusing on refining the wines while honoring nearly two centuries of tradition. This blend of heritage and innovation keeps Faiveley at the forefront of Burgundy’s leading producers, offering wines that are both expressive of their origins and benchmarks for quality in the region.
