About Philippe Chavy
Philippe Chavy took over the reins of this wealthy domaine from his father in 2002 with a little more than 3 hectares of prime sited vineyards. The domaine now extends to just over 8 hectares, with some thirty individual parcels scattered throughout the neighbouring villages of Puligny Montrachet and Meursault. Soil is worked by ploughing; there is strictly no use of herbicides or insecticides and for several years, Philippe has followed the cycles of the lunar calendar when determining work in the vineyards and cellars. His precise, floral Puligny Montrachet Les Corv es des Vignes hails from vines that lie very close to neighboring Meursault 1er Cru Charmes . Philippe Chavy is organic farming and small-scale crafts. In the wine cellar of the village of Puligny in southern Burgundy, his passion for making artisanal wine sprouts without additives or manipulation, as has been done for generations. He is not interested in resorting to 'modern' methods to increase yields or simplify production, on the contrary, volumes are small and sold out long before the next vintage is released. The foundation for the incomparable wines is laid in the fields, where Philippe spends most of his time tinkering with his vines. If you grow organically / biodynamically, the challenge is to keep the vines healthy without chemical aids. The crops have been organic for so long that the vines have developed a natural resistance to disease and together with constant maintenance, he gets access to grapes of the highest quality.
