About Chateau Angludet

Château Angludet is a historic wine estate located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. Its origins date back to the 12th century, with documented winemaking taking place since the early 17th century. The estate spans 81 hectares, of which 32 hectares are planted with vines, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The property’s gravelly soils and proximity to the Gironde estuary create ideal conditions for producing elegant, age-worthy wines that reflect the unique terroir of Margaux.

Since 1961, the Sichel family has owned and managed Château Angludet, bringing renewed vitality and a commitment to excellence. Under the stewardship of Peter Sichel and later his son Benjamin Sichel, the estate has embraced both tradition and innovation. The winemaking philosophy centers on respect for the environment, with organic viticulture practices and a focus on biodiversity. The vineyard is managed using traditional methods, including manual harvesting and careful attention to vine health, ensuring grapes of optimal quality.

In the cellar, Château Angludet employs a combination of classic and modern techniques. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, which help preserve the purity of fruit and facilitate precise temperature control. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak used each year to impart complexity and structure without overpowering the wine’s natural character. The resulting red wines are known for their balance, finesse, and aromatic complexity, offering notes of dark fruit, floral undertones, and subtle spice.

Château Angludet’s flagship wine, Château Angludet, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Each vintage reflects the estate’s dedication to quality and the distinctive expression of Margaux. The wine is celebrated for its harmonious structure, refined tannins, and potential to evolve gracefully with age. In addition to the grand vin, the estate produces a second wine, La Dame d’Angludet, crafted from younger vines and parcels not selected for the first wine. La Dame d’Angludet offers a more approachable style while maintaining the signature elegance and freshness of the estate’s wines.

Château Angludet is committed to sustainable viticulture, with ongoing efforts to preserve the land for future generations. The estate’s environmental initiatives include the use of organic fertilizers, cover crops, and natural pest control methods. These practices not only protect the ecosystem but also contribute to the health and vitality of the vineyard, resulting in wines that authentically express their origin.

The estate welcomes visitors by appointment, offering guided tours of the vineyards, cellars, and historic grounds. Guests can learn about the winemaking process, the history of the property, and the Sichel family’s enduring legacy in Bordeaux. Tastings provide an opportunity to experience the unique character of Château Angludet’s wines and gain insight into the artistry behind each bottle. Through its dedication to tradition, innovation, and environmental stewardship, Château Angludet continues to be a distinguished presence in the Margaux appellation, crafting wines that embody the spirit and elegance of Bordeaux.
