About Chateau Angludet
In 1932, Ch teau Angludet was one of six ch teaux to be promoted to the rank of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel. D'Angludet is located in the Margaux appellation and its vineyards are situated at the 3-way intersection of the Cantenac, Arsac and Labarde communes Part of the AOC Margaux appellation and lying 30km north-west of Bordeaux, the vineyard of Ch teau Angludet is situated on a broad plateau of Garonne gravel deposits which it shares with the neighboring Grands Crus. Over the centuries, winegrowers in the Bordeaux area observed that certain sites systematically produce wines of exceptional quality with specific characteristics. The reason for this is the influence of 'terroir', the subtle interaction of soils, subsoils, exposure to the sun, altitude and the natural environment. The late Peter Sichel purchased d'Angludet in 1961 and it became his home for the next 37 years. D'Angludet's 32 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The blending of Ch teau Angludet begins in February after the harvest. The wines from the best plots are then selected by Benjamin Sichel for their complementary qualities. Thus, only 70% of the volume of the harvest is selected for Ch teau Angludet. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks and the wine is then aged in oak barriques (25-33% new) for 12 months.
