About Pierre Yves Colin Morey
Pierre Yves Colin, a member of the Marc Colin family and son of Saint Aubin, between 1995 and 2005, decided to create a small grape buying company with his wife Caroline Morey. This is how Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey's wines were born with the 2001 vintage for a total of about 1,700 bottles, as Maison wines. A part of the vineyards of the family vineyard was attributed to him and therefore the Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey was created with a company of 6 hectares. The wines of the new domaine are then added to the range of wines where the grapes are purchased. Today about 70,000 bottles are produced, of which 2/3 of the estate and 1/3 of the grape purchases. Now he has grown his domaine with the help of family holdings to 70% plots that he owns and 30% grapes he purchases. His holdings are mostly in Chassagne-Montrachet (where the domaine is located) but he also produces multiple bottlings of Meursault, St. Aubin, and Puligny-Montrachet. Pierre-Yves has rapidly grown to be one of the greatest producers of white Burgundy, a star in Cote de Beaune with one of the world s finest exponents of Chardonnay. The eminence of his Zen wines - Bourgogne through to Chevalier - has put him in a tiny, very elite class. His choice to use larger demi-muids barrels and eschew the use of battonnage makes each one of his bottlings a clear expression of its terroir and a study in mineral-driven Chardonnay. Tasting in the Colin-Morey cellar (or anywhere you are lucky enough to have a bottle), is truly a special experience.
