Ronchi di Cialla is a family-run winery located in the Cialla valley within the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC zone of northeastern Italy. Established in 1970 by Paolo and Dina Rapuzzi, the estate was founded with a vision to revive and champion the region’s indigenous grape varieties, particularly Schioppettino, Picolit, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. The Rapuzzi family’s commitment to biodiversity and tradition has played a crucial role in saving these rare grapes from extinction, and their work has become a benchmark for sustainable viticulture in Friuli.
The estate covers approximately 28 hectares, of which about 13 are planted to vines. Other notable reds include Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Ciallabianco, a unique white blend of Ribolla Gialla, Picolit, and Verduzzo.
