Enzo Boglietti winery
Enzo Boglietti is a family-run wine estate located in La Morra, at the heart of the Barolo region in Piedmont, Italy. The estate traces its origins to the 1990s, when Enzo Boglietti took over the family vineyards, which had previously sold grapes to local cooperatives. Enzo, along with his brother Gianni, transformed the family business by focusing on estate-bottled wines and adopting a philosophy that emphasizes both respect for tradition and openness to innovation. Today, the estate encompasses approximately 22 hectares of vineyards, spread across some of the most prestigious crus in Barolo, including Brunate, Case Nere, Fossati, and Arione, as well as holdings in the surrounding Langhe area.
The Boglietti approach in the vineyard is meticulous, with a focus on low yields, sustainable practices, and careful selection of fruit. The family believes that great wine begins in the vineyard, so they employ minimal intervention, use organic fertilizers, and avoid herbicides. Enzo’s dedication to expressing the unique terroir of each vineyard parcel is reflected in the estate’s range of single-vineyard Barolos, each highlighting the distinct characteristics of its origin. The estate also produces other traditional Piedmontese wines, such as Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, and a small amount of Chardonnay, all crafted with the same attention to detail.
In the cellar, Enzo Boglietti combines modern techniques with traditional methods to achieve balance, elegance, and purity in his wines. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and aging is carried out in a combination of French oak barriques and large casks, depending on the wine and vintage. The use of new oak is judicious, intended to enhance rather than mask the character of the Nebbiolo grape and the nuances of each vineyard site. The resulting wines are known for their depth, complexity, and age-worthiness, with a style that marries power and finesse.
Enzo Boglietti’s Barolos are particularly sought after for their expressive aromatics, structure, and ability to evolve gracefully over time. The Brunate and Fossati crus, for example, showcase the estate’s commitment to terroir-driven winemaking, offering distinct profiles—Brunate with its richness and velvety tannins, Fossati with its elegance and aromatic lift. The estate’s Barbera and Dolcetto wines are also highly regarded for their vibrant fruit, freshness, and drinkability, making them excellent ambassadors for the broader Langhe region.
Today, Enzo Boglietti wines are exported to over 30 countries and have gained a loyal following among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. The estate remains a family affair, with Enzo and Gianni continuing to oversee all aspects of production, from vineyard management to winemaking. Their dedication to quality, respect for tradition, and willingness to innovate have established Enzo Boglietti as a leading name in Barolo, producing wines that are both authentic expressions of Piedmont and benchmarks for the region’s ongoing evolution.
