Armelle et Jean Michel Molin winery

Domaine Molin is a family-owned wine estate located in the heart of the Savoie region, nestled between lakes and mountains. The estate’s roots trace back to 1350, with generations of the Molin family cultivating vines and producing wine in the village of Apremont. The domain is currently managed by Jean-Pierre Molin, who continues the family tradition alongside his children, blending respect for heritage with modern winemaking techniques.

The estate covers 22 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with the region’s emblematic grape, Jacquère, which thrives on the unique terroir of Apremont. The soils, composed of clay-limestone and glacial moraine, are the result of a dramatic landslide from Mont Granier in 1248, giving the wines their distinct mineral character. Domaine Molin also cultivates other local varieties such as Roussette, Mondeuse, Gamay, and Pinot Noir, offering a diverse range of wines that reflect the richness of Savoie’s viticultural landscape.

Committed to sustainable viticulture, Domaine Molin practices environmentally responsible farming, minimizing chemical inputs and promoting biodiversity in the vineyards. The estate has adopted integrated pest management and employs mechanical work on the soil to preserve its health and vitality. This approach ensures that the grapes express the purity and authenticity of their origin.

The winemaking process at Domaine Molin combines tradition and innovation. Harvesting is carried out by hand to ensure optimal grape quality. In the cellar, the team uses gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the freshness and aromatic complexity of the wines. Aging takes place in stainless steel vats and, for some cuvées, in oak barrels, allowing each wine to develop its unique personality while maintaining balance and finesse.

Domaine Molin’s portfolio includes several cuvées, each representing the estate’s dedication to quality and expression of terroir. The flagship Apremont wine, made from Jacquère, is characterized by its pale color, floral and citrus aromas, and vibrant minerality. The Roussette de Savoie, crafted from Altesse grapes, offers more structure and notes of white flowers and stone fruits. Red wines, such as Mondeuse and Gamay, display freshness, red fruit flavors, and subtle spiciness, while the estate’s sparkling wines, produced using the traditional method, provide elegance and festive character.

The estate welcomes visitors for tastings and tours, offering an immersive experience into the world of Savoie wines. Guests can explore the vineyards, learn about the history and winemaking philosophy of the Molin family, and sample the diverse range of wines in a convivial setting. Domaine Molin also participates in local wine events and markets, strengthening its connection to the community and sharing its passion for Savoie’s viticultural heritage.

With a legacy spanning centuries, Domaine Molin stands as a testament to the enduring relationship between people, land, and wine in Savoie. The family’s commitment to authenticity, respect for the environment, and pursuit of excellence is reflected in every bottle, inviting wine lovers to discover the unique flavors and stories of this remarkable region.
