The Kreydenweiss family has been rooted in the village of Andlau since the 17th century, with Marc representing the fourth generation to oversee the family estate. In 1971, he took over the domaine and quickly set about refining its focus, emphasizing the expression of the unique soils and microclimates found in Andlau’s renowned vineyards.

One of Marc’s defining decisions was to convert the estate to biodynamic farming in 1989, making Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss one of the early adopters of this holistic approach in Alsace. This philosophy centers on respecting the natural rhythms of the earth, fostering biodiversity, and eschewing chemical inputs in favor of organic preparations and natural composts. The domaine encompasses approximately 13.5 hectares, including prestigious Grand Cru sites such as Wiebelsberg, Moenchberg, and Kastelberg. Each of these vineyards is celebrated for its distinctive geology—sandstone, marl-limestone, and schist, respectively—providing the foundation for wines that are both complex and precise. Marc’s approach in the cellar is minimalist, relying on indigenous yeasts, long fermentations, and careful aging in large, old oak barrels to preserve purity and nuance.

The wine range includes classic Alsatian varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Blanc, with a particular emphasis on dry styles that highlight minerality and structure. Together, they expanded their winemaking ventures to the Costières de Nîmes in the southern Rhône, establishing Domaine des Perrières, where they craft elegant, Mediterranean-influenced wines that complement their Alsatian portfolio.
