About Chateau Respide Medeville
Gonet-M deville is a wine producer located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux. The M deville family has a long-standing tradition of winemaking in this appellation and today the family holds two Sauternes estates, as well as several others in Bordeaux and Champagne. Ch teau Gilette is a 4.5-hectare (11-acre) estate located in the village of Preignac in Sauternes. The vineyards are sheltered from the wind to allow the mist needed for the development of Botrytis cinerea, the beneficial mold that gives the wines their unique character. The main wine from Ch teau Gilette is the Cr me de T te wine, made from a blend of S million, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Gonet-M deville's other estate in Sauternes, Ch teau Les Justices, covers 8.5ha (21 acres) and makes a more approachable botrytis-affected sweet wine. There are several other Bordeaux estates in the Gonet-M deville portfolio. Cru Monplaisir comprises 9ha (22 acres) of vineyards planted largely to Merlot with some Cabernet Sauvignon in the sup rieur appellation, while Domaine des Justices in Graves makes a red and a white Bordeaux blend. Ch teau Respide-M deville is also in Graves, while Ch teau des Eyrins covers 3ha of land in Margaux. In 2000, Gonet-M deville purchased an estate in Champagne that spans 12ha of land spread over eight villages. This includes three Grands Crus (Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Oger and Ambonnay), plus five Premier Crus, all planted to the well-known Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier for the production of the estate's range of Champagne Blancs de Noirs, Brut and Ros wines.
