About Castello di Ama
The success of Castello di Ama lies with Lorenza Sebasti, daughter of one of the original owners, and winemaker Marco Pallanti. A 40-year labour of love, Lorenza and Marco continue to share the same passion, vision, and values. Castello di Ama is in the historic heart of Chianti Classico, in central Tuscany, between the Florence and Siena provinces, where vineyards and olive groves are edged by woodland in scenery that was depicted in Renaissance artist Benozzo Gozzoli s Magi Chapel, in Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence. Beauty and uniqueness enticed this family, originally from Rome to Ama in the early Seventies. Bound by their love of wine, they replanted the vineyards and introduced new production methods, building a new winery with the end goal of producing Chianti Classico and returning Ama to its former glory. The 75 hectares of vineyards surrounding the village at an altitude that ranges between 420 and 527 metres result in characterful wines suitable for long aging. Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Ama Vigneto Bellavista is one of the oldest Chianti Classico wines. It has been produced since 1978 from the vineyard s Sangiovese grapes (approximately 80%) with the addition of Malvasia Nera. Very few bottles are made in exceptional vintages. A powerful and masculine wine that losing none of its elegance and extraordinary harmony. The complexity unfurls with the passing of time, leading to longevity.
