About Chateau La Fleur Petrus
Location is everything. Ch teau La Fleur-P trus is literally a stone s throw away from both Lafleur and P trus, two of the top wine estates in Pomerol. The current ch teau was renovated in 2011 and was opened in 2013, while the cellar master lives in the original ch teau a mere five minutes away from the newly renovated ch teau. The 500-meter radius around the church of Pomerol is considered to be by some the best terroir of Pomerol and even in the Bordeaux region itself. This Merlot-dominant grand Vin is known for its elegance, structure, and precision. The property is about 46 acres and planted mostly Merlot on gravel soils which result in the refined style of the wines. In 1953, the chateau was purchased by Jean-Pierre Moueix who then added nearly 10 acres of vines to the property from neighbouring Ch teau Le Gay. The finesse and elegance shown in Ch teau La Fleur Petrus result in an ability to age gracefully and continue to improve for decades to come. The most desirable plots possess both the highest elevations and the most efficient drainage since irrigation is not allowed in Bordeaux. Perhaps not surprisingly, the P trus vineyards are at the highest point at 42 meters above sea level.
