About Pian delle Vigne

Pian Delle Vigne is the top Brunello di Montalcino from the famous Italian Antinori House. Purely made from Sangiovese grapes an elegant red wine that will develop and improve over the next many years. The Pian Delle Vigne estate is located 6 kilometres southwest of Montalcino. Its name comes from the eponymous area where a characteristic nineteenth-century railway station is located. The property consists of 184 hectares, 65 hectares are planted to vines with generally a south-western exposure at an altitude of 130 meters above sea level. Soil composition is essentially clay, calcareous and rich in very fine gravel. The Pian delle Vigne is especially elegant, silky and refined, with gorgeous textural elegance and lovely overall balance. They produce100% Sangiovese. The careful selection of the bunches during the pre-maturation phase and the favorable weather guarantee the arrival of perfect grapes in the cellar. The alcoholic fermentation starts after the soft pressing and the elimination of stalks. Afterwards, 24 days maceration on skins in inox and further aging in wood. The evolution starts in small barrels (5hl) to end in big ones (30hl) for 2 years and a half.
