About Castello dei Rampolla
The winery was instrumental in the Italian wine miracle of the 1980s. This is where a sparkling clean Chianti Classico, the Super Tuscan Sammarco and the top product d'Alceo. All three of the red wines, strictly limited each year, perfectly reflect the impressive quality consciousness of Castello dei Rampolla. The estate in Panzano has been owned by the di Napoli family for almost 300 years. Since the end of the eighties at the latest, it has been world-famous for uninterrupted top quality. The grandfather of the siblings Maurizia and Luca di Napoli laid the foundations for the many years of success. Between 1994 and 1998, the siblings Maurizia and Luca initiated a very important stage of development when they successfully converted Castello Dei Rampolla step by step to organic and near-natural cultivation. Since then, no pesticides have been used in the vineyard. In order to obtain dense and concentrated must, the vines, which are on average about 360 metres above sea level, carry fewer grapes. In order to give the berries a lot of strength, the two winegrowers accept lower crop yields. Chianti is traditionally produced with Sangiovese and a very small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine of great character and longevity, thanks to its excellent sites in a shell-shaped depression and the work of the famous Tuscan oenologist Giacomo Tachis. 'Rampolla makes courageous, uncompromising decisions ... and produces labels that have become cult wines through great consistency and authenticity.
