About Chateau Montus
In 1979, driven by a desire for independence from the family (Ch teau Bouscasse), Alain Brumont bought Ch teau Montus. Immediately renew the entire vineyard, without any concession to quality: (Selected plants, better exposed plots, improved trellises. In 1982, Alain Brumont vinified plantations less than 3 years old for the first time. This wine defies the chronicle and imposes itself as a leader, winning several competitions. Voted best French winemaker and internationally the producer of one of the world's top ten wines, Alain Brumont has restored ancient terroirs that had been abandoned for almost 50 years. Ch teau Montus, located in the south-west region, near the cities of Pau and Tarbes and facing the Pyrenees, is part of the Brumont vineyards together with Ch teaux Bouscass . The whole of the vineyard formed by these two properties, Montus and Bouscass , extends over 180 hectares in the appellations of Madiran, Pacherenc du Vic Bilh and Vin de Pays de C tes de Gascogne. This terroir is one of the last traces of the beginnings of the Pyrenees, dating back 40 million years. The Pyrenees of today deposit large black white marble stones in the rivers. With a perfect south-west orientation, this very steep terroir benefits from plenty of mild sunshine. It consists of rounded pebbles on top of the red variegated clay, there is often a very light breeze blowing the pebbles heated by the sun.
