About Ruinart
Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house, exclusively producing champagne since 1729. Founded by Nicolas Ruinart in the Champagne region in the city of Reims, the house is today owned by LVMH Mo t Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA. In 1728, he obtained the right to market wine in bottles and no longer only in barrels. As champagne could only be transported in bottles, it was a liberation for the Ruinart family who could then export their champagne. To make himself known; Nicolas Ruinart offers his first bottles to his customers in the sheet market. In 1735, he abandons the cloth and fabric trade to devote himself entirely to champagne. The vineyard of the Maison Ruinart extends over 1600 hectares around Reims. It benefits from a climate shared between oceanic and continental. The vines, therefore, grow under cold and marked winters and temperate summers that are rarely very hot. The intermediate seasons see a succession of rain, hail, good weather and average temperature. The soils of the region are diverse: clay, marl, chalk, sand and limestone. This makes it possible to obtain wines of character. The signature of the Ruinart House remains the Chardonnay grape variety, from the C te des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, which is blended with the Pinot Noir and the Meunier Noir. The Ruinart House offers a range of brut, white and ros champagnes. The grapes are vinified in thermo-regulated stainless-steel tanks to preserve the aromas. Two fermentations take place afterward, which gives the champagnes their suppleness.
