Talenti is a distinguished wine estate located in the heart of Montalcino, Tuscany, celebrated for its dedication to crafting expressive Brunello di Montalcino and other classic Tuscan wines. The estate was founded in the late 1960s by Pierluigi Talenti, who, drawn by the region’s potential, acquired the estate of Pian di Conte. With a background in agronomy and a passion for viticulture, Pierluigi Talenti devoted himself to understanding the unique terroir of Montalcino, meticulously selecting the best Sangiovese clones and experimenting with vineyard management techniques to enhance grape quality.
The Talenti estate covers approximately 40 hectares, with about 20 hectares under vine. The vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 250 to 400 meters above sea level, benefitting from optimal sun exposure and the cooling influence of Mediterranean breezes. The soils, composed predominantly of clay, limestone, and marl, contribute to the complexity and minerality of the wines. The estate’s philosophy combines respect for tradition with a forward-thinking approach, implementing sustainable practices in both the vineyard and the cellar to preserve the health of the land for future generations.
Talenti’s winemaking is guided by a balance of tradition and innovation. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure only the best fruit reaches the cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and smaller French barriques. This careful maturation process allows the wines to develop depth and elegance while retaining the purity of Sangiovese’s character. The estate’s flagship wine, Brunello di Montalcino, is known for its refined structure, vibrant acidity, and complex bouquet of red fruit, floral notes, and earthy undertones. In addition to Brunello, Talenti produces Rosso di Montalcino, Toscana IGT, and other limited bottlings that showcase the estate’s versatility and commitment to quality.
Today, the estate is managed by Riccardo Talenti, Pierluigi’s grandson, who continues the family legacy with the same passion and attention to detail. Riccardo has introduced modern techniques and expanded the estate’s offerings while maintaining the core values established by his grandfather. Under his leadership, Talenti’s wines have garnered critical acclaim for their balance, longevity, and authentic expression of Montalcino’s terroir.
