Schloss Schonborn winery

The domain winery Schloss Sch nborn in the Rheingau can look back on a long history. The vitality of this past is already evident when you see the eponymous castle in Geisenheim. The beautiful Renaissance Adelshof, built in the middle of the 16th century, is really an imposing mansion. The noble family of the Sch nborns came into possession of this wonderful ancestral seat almost exactly in the middle of the 17th century. Philipp Erwin von Sch nborn bought the property, which is lavishly paneled with wood and decorated with baroque carvings and made it the ancestral seat of the Rheingau districts, some of which have been in the possession of the Counts Sch nborn since 1349. Since then, the vineyard area of Sch nborn Castle has grown continuously. In the 17th and 18th centuries, in particular, well-known and highly valuable prime locations were purchased and the location potential was expanded considerably. This commitment to viticulture continued through the ages and so it is hardly surprising that Counts Sch nborn is also among the founding members of the Association of German Pr dikatsweing ter. Today the domain winery Schloss Sch nborn in the Rheingau can boast 50 hectares of the best vineyards, 90% of which are with Riesling, the rest is planted with Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. Sch nborn Castle has large and first vineyards throughout the Rheingau and so its oenologists can draw on the full terroir potential of this great wine-growing region.
