Revello winery
Revello is a family-owned winery based in the heart of La Morra, within the prestigious Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. The estate’s roots trace back to the mid-20th century when the Revello family began cultivating vineyards and producing traditional wines. Over the decades, Revello has evolved from a small-scale grape grower supplying local cooperatives to a respected independent producer, crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of their land.
The estate is currently managed by Enzo and Carlo Revello, who took over operations from their parents in the 1990s. Their approach combines respect for tradition with a willingness to embrace modern techniques, resulting in wines that are both expressive and approachable. The brothers focus primarily on Nebbiolo, the noble grape behind Barolo, but also cultivate Dolcetto and Barbera, offering a comprehensive taste of the Langhe region.
Revello’s philosophy centers on sustainable viticulture and meticulous vineyard management. The family believes that great wine begins in the vineyard, and they work diligently to nurture healthy vines and preserve the natural environment. They practice low-intervention farming, limit the use of chemicals, and employ green harvesting to control yields, ensuring concentration and complexity in their wines.
In the cellar, Revello combines traditional methods with thoughtful innovation. Fermentation typically takes place in stainless steel to preserve the purity of the fruit, while aging is conducted in a mix of large Slavonian oak casks and smaller French barriques. This approach allows the wines to develop structure and elegance without overwhelming the character of the grape or the influence of the vineyard site.
The estate’s Barolo offerings are sourced from several prized crus, including Gattera, Conca, Giachini, and Rocche dell’Annunziata. Each of these sites imparts distinctive qualities to the wines, from the floral and red-fruited elegance of Gattera to the power and depth found in Rocche dell’Annunziata. Revello’s Barolos are known for their balance, aromatic complexity, and silky tannins, making them accessible in youth yet capable of graceful aging.
Beyond Barolo, Revello produces expressive Dolcetto d’Alba and Barbera d’Alba, which capture the vibrancy and freshness typical of these varietals. These wines are crafted with the same attention to detail as their flagship Barolos, offering excellent value and insight into the diversity of the region.
Revello’s commitment to quality and authenticity has earned the estate a loyal following among wine enthusiasts and critics alike. The family remains deeply connected to their land and heritage, welcoming visitors to their cellar for tastings and tours. Through their wines, Revello conveys a sense of place, tradition, and the enduring spirit of the Langhe.
