Pio Cesare winery

Pio Cesare was founded in 1881 by our great-great-grandfather of Pio Cesare. Pio Cesare was among the first, in the second half of the 19th century, to believe in the great potential of Barolo, Barbaresco and the other great wines of the Langhe and was among the first to produce and make them known. For five generations, they have been making wines in their ancient cellars in Alba, crossed and bounded by the old Roman walls of the city. Pio Cesare has recently completed a major renovation, with large investments also in technologies, which has allowed them to enhance the historical and architectural importance of their cellars, the only ones left in the historic centre of the city of Alba. Present in 40 international markets, the production stands at 60 thousand bottles of Barolo Classico, to which are added two DOCG crus: the Ornato, which was born in 1985 in the vineyard of Serralunga, and the Mosconi, the latest acquisition of the family in the area of Barolo in Monforte D'Alba. It was the gift to him on his 60th birthday: ten hectares with ancient, and even some specimens from 1947 until 1961. And I wanted to demonstrate the expressive diversity even in vineyards just 250 meters away, he says satisfied Pio Boffa.
