Morisfarms winery
Morisfarms is a family-run wine estate located in the heart of Tuscany’s Maremma region, with roots tracing back to the 19th century. The Moris family, originally from Spain, settled in Italy and began their agricultural journey in the 1800s. Over generations, they expanded their land holdings and shifted their primary focus to viticulture, establishing Morisfarms as a leading name in the production of high-quality Tuscan wines. The estate covers over 500 hectares, with approximately 60 hectares dedicated to vineyards, spread across two main locations: Poggio la Mozza near Grosseto and the historic estate of Massa Marittima.
At the core of Morisfarms’ philosophy is a deep respect for the land and a commitment to sustainable farming practices. The family has always emphasized minimal intervention in both the vineyards and the cellar, allowing the unique terroir of Maremma to shine through in their wines. The coastal influence, combined with the region’s diverse soils and favorable climate, provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation, particularly for varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Alicante.
The Morisfarms portfolio includes a range of wines that express the character and diversity of their terroir. Their flagship wine, Avvoltore, is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, known for its structure, elegance, and aging potential. Other notable wines include Morellino di Scansano Riserva, a classic expression of the local Sangiovese-based appellation, and Mandriolo, a fresh and approachable red designed for everyday enjoyment. The estate also produces white wines and rosés, showcasing the versatility of their vineyards.
Winemaking at Morisfarms blends tradition with innovation. The team employs careful vineyard management, hand-harvesting, and meticulous selection of grapes to ensure quality from the outset. In the cellar, modern technology complements traditional methods, with fermentation taking place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aging occurring in a mix of French oak barriques and large casks, depending on the style of wine. This balanced approach results in wines that are expressive, harmonious, and true to their origin.
Today, Morisfarms remains under the stewardship of the Moris family, with successive generations actively involved in every aspect of the business. Their dedication to quality, respect for tradition, and openness to innovation have earned them a loyal following in Italy and abroad. Visitors to the estate can experience guided tours, tastings, and an immersion in the landscapes that inspire their wines. Morisfarms continues to be a benchmark for Tuscan winemaking, offering wines that capture the spirit of Maremma and the legacy of a family devoted to their craft.
