Madonna Nera winery

Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy's most famous and prestigious wines. In Tuscany, its homeland, it perhaps ranks alongside Chianti Classico. On global markets it seems to command even greater attention. The wine is typically garnet in color with aromas of red and black fruit with underlying vanilla and spice, and perhaps a hint of earthiness. The wines are usually full bodied with alcohol levels around 14 or 15 percent. Good tannic structure and bright acidity provides balance. In 2006, a father-daughter duo, Lorenzo and Benedetta Borgogni established Madonna Nera and it was then that their dream became a reality. The Madonna is the ancient name of the hilly terrain wrapped in an enchanted landscape where nature and art unite with each other to create the incredible mastery that is the mark of the Tuscan civilization. Today the place hosts a young farm inspired by the profound respect of the traditions of the land and the entrepreneurial spirit. Madonna Nera covers six hectares of vineyards. The Brunello di Montalcino Madonna Nera is fermented in stainless steel and aged in French tonneaux for 36 months. Carlo Ferrini is the consulting enologist on this project. La Madonna's vineyards are just a stone's throw away from the Montalcino city limits. Grape Variety: 60% Sangiovese 30% Merlot 10% Cabernet.
