Gianni Voerzio winery

Gianni Voerzio doesn t make the blockbuster, super-concentrated wines of his brother, ROBERTO VOERZIO, but from 12.5 ha he does produce a consistent and diverse range of very fine, even elegant wines. All have great vigour, deep fruit, and good balance. Arneis and Dolcetto are excellent examples, both alive and intense. The Arneis is one of the very best made, detailed and structured, and capable of a little age. Dolcetto has a splendid definition and an uncommon style for this grape. Barbera and the Nebbiolo/Barbera blend, Serrapi , show the most marked oak influence but this melts into the rich pure fruit with a little age. The beautifully detailed Barolo La Serra is dense and intriguing when young, inviting at least 8 10 years of cellaring. Prices are on the high side but not out of step with quality. The area covers an area around 12,5 hectares. Nebbiolo is the grape variety behind the top-quality red wines of Piedmont, north-western Italy, the most notable of which are Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are distinguished by their strong tannins, high acidity, and distinctive scent often described as 'tar and roses'. Vineyard Holdings: Barolo La Serra, Dolcetto D Alba Rochettevino, Langhe Arneis Cru Bricco Cappellina, Langhe Rosso Serrapiu, Moscato D Asti Vignasergente.Wines by this producer: Gianni Voerzio Ciabot della Luna Barbera d'Alba DOC, Gianni Voerzio La Serra Barolo DOCG, Gianni Voerzio Serrapiu Langhe, Gianni Voerzio Rochettevino Dolcetto d Alba, Gianni Voerzio Vignasergente Moscato d Asti DOCG.
