Gaston Chiquet winery

Eight generations have passed since Nicolas Chiquet planted his first vine in 1746. The vineyards comprise of 23 hectares of renowned territory. The average age of our vines is 27 years. Their locations include A , where the parcels 'Vauzelles' and 'Haut Crohauts' produce the grapes for'Blanc de Blancs d'A ' and'Crohauts-Guillemoine', 'Cerisi res', 'Sous-Chienne' and 'Moque-Bouteille' are situated in Dizy, where the winery and family home can also be found. La Grange de Dizy' and 'Colombier' are situated around the village of Hautvillers, considered by many to be the birthplace of Champagne. The three grape varieties used in Champagne are cultivated in the following proportions: Chardonnay 50%, Pinot Meunier 30%, Pinot noir 20%. Charddonay:this white grape represents approximately 40% of our production. It lends finesse and freshness to the wine. Our Chardonnay grapes are grown around the villages of Dizy, Hautvillers and A . Having carefully selected Chardonnay vines to plant on his land in the Marne Valley, Gaston Chiquet was the first to produce an all-Chardonnay blend in an area historically dedicated to Pinot Noir. Thus our 'Blanc de Blancs d'A ' combines the freshness unique to Chardonnay with the long finish particular to other wines of A . PINOT NOIR: a red grape with white juice, representing approximately 40% of our production. Pinot Noir brings structure and body. Its quality can make or break a vintage.
