Forteto della Luja winery
The Forteto della Luja farm is a small and ancient winery managed for 8 generations by the same family that produces natural wines with old vineyards cultivated with a certified organic method in a WWF affiliated Naturalistic Oasis. High up on the hill of Loazzolo, overlooking the Piemontese valley between Monferrato DOC and the town of Asti lies Forteto della Luja. Now run by brother and sister Giancarlo and Silvia, the Scaglione family estate dates back to the 1700s. Viticulture at Forteto della Luja goes beyond organic; the soils are worked by a horse, fermentations occur naturally by way of the mother yeast. Since 2003 the winery the wine has been 100% solar-powered - the only of its kind in Piemonte. The headquarters are in Loazzolo in the Alta Langa Astigiana in Piedmont.
