Domaine Perrot Minot winery

Henri and Marie-France s son, Christophe Perrot-Minot returned to his parent s estate in 1993 at the age of 28, having spent 7 years as a fine wine broker, to assume the position of manager of the Domaine. Christophe s experience in the trade, working with, tasting, selling, and buying the very finest wines of Burgundy and the world brought an entirely new facet to Domaine Perrot Minot. Christophe trained to recognize vinous greatness, and with three generations of dedicated wine-growers preceding him, set about to further perfect the profound wines emanating from his family s holdings. The wines of Perrot Minot, at their best, seem to marry what you would think would be an impossible combination of power and seeming weightlessness. Here the key to their remarkable offerings lies in their very old vines, fantastic holdings, and one of the more fanatical approaches to every facet of production seen in the region. There is never more than 50% new wood in any wine and often a fair bit less, instead, the structure and power come from the tiny yields he restricts his vines to and the thick skins inherent in the fruit from these venerable old vines. Their remarkable longevity and subtle structure are perhaps more remarkable when you consider that no stems are ever kept here, instead a very soft whole berry maceration is undertaken. These are among the finest wines produced in Burgundy in any given vintage. Christophe Perrot-Minot continues to hone his style, making more elegant, textural wines each vintage. These are some of the sexiest Burgundies you will find.
