About Bellavista

Bellavista is a wine producer located in Lombardy, where it makes some top Franciacorta wines. It was founded by Vittorio Moretti in the early 1970s and today produces a full range of vintage and non-vintage sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The estate spans 190 hectares (470 acres) of vineyard land spread across 10 communes in the Franciacorta DOCG zone. Varieties planted include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Bianco, with vines averaging more than 20 years old. Bellavista's vineyards have a wide range of different soil types and are divided into 147 small parcels based on geographical differences and grape variety. These plots remain separate throughout the harvest and vinification process the subsequent base wines are blended to achieve Bellavista's house style. Bellavista produces all its sparkling wines by the traditional method. To produce its non-vintage cuv es, the estate blends current vintage wines with a selection from at least 20 different reserve wines. One of the estate's top cuv es, Alma Gran Cuv e, is blended from at least 75 variations of current vintage and reserve wines. Around 35 percent of the wine is fermented and aged in old white oak barrels. The total production process lasts at least 40 months.
