About Castello di Bolgheri
Federico Zilieri Dal Verme or conversely knows as the futurist of winemaking, founded the Castello di Bolgheri winery in 2000, replanting the old family vineyards, along the renowned avenue of cypresses, in Bolgheri, Tuscany. The winery is located between the area of San Vincenzo and Cecina, betwixt hills and sea, vines, woods and olive groves, the main vineyard stretches, with predominantly calcareous soil, rich in silt and clay and splendidly exposed to the sea breeze. The remaining vineyards are instead located in Sondraia, characterized by additional sandy soils. The approximately 50 hectares of vineyards are managed on the whole according to gentle and respectful practices of the raw material, with organic fertilizers, copper and sulphur, while in the vinification phase the fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, to guarantee the link with the land of origin and the territorial footprint. This is how Tuscan wines of extraordinary intensity and elegance are born at Castello di Bolgheri, based on the typical varietals of the Bolgheri DOC, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. Castello Bolgheri produces one of the best vintages such as Bolgheri Superiore DOC 'Castello di Bolgheri' which is an unmissable wine for many wine connoisseurs, with enchanting and persistent fruity and spicy facets, while the Bolgheri DOC Varvara stands out for its clear territorial imprint and excellent gustatory balance.
