About Domaine Ponsot

Based in Morey St Denis, Laurent Ponsot has been running the estate since 1983. He spends most of his time in the vineyard. For him, healthy grapes are the most important component in making very good wine and we simply can't argue with that. In general, the beginning of his harvest starts later than his neighbouring producers. He waits until the grape has reached full maturity and sometimes even longer. He has only one rule in his vinification process: not to follow any rules. He makes a very rare and refined white wine, Morey- St-Denis 1er Cru 'Monts Luisants' 100% Aligot . The soils in C te de Nuits result from the consequences of the uplift of the Alps and the collapse of the plain of the Sa ne. The vines are mainly planted on limestone slopes. At the summit sits the famous 'stone of Premeaux', giving Roman e-Conti, Richeboug, and La T che outstanding wines. The soils are formed of calcareous scree, limestone, and red silt with a large diversity of terroir contributing to the typicality of the C te de Nuits wines. Laurent Ponsot is world-renowned producers of powerful, complex, and rich wines with a lot of flavours and aromas. Over the many years of cultivating fine wine, many awards have been received by this outstanding winery.
