About Rocche dei Manzoni
The Podere Rocche Dei Manzoni is a more recent creation than most other wineries in the Barolo area. The success story began in 1974 when the couple Valentino and Jolanda Migliorini decided to set up a winery in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. The visionary landowner and successful star chef decided to gear the production in the more than 300-year-old, picturesquely situated manor house strictly to quality based on the French model. It was extraordinary that four years after its foundation the wine company was one of the first in the Langhe to move small French oak barriques across the Alps to mature the wines. They produced exemplary and modern style sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero from the Monforte area. He processes the grapes in a traditional way, without, however, forgoing some innovative details. The spectacular temperature-controlled wine cellar, built into a mountain, holds hundreds of thousands of bottles. The wines, which are kept in a generous and extravagant style, reveal much of their character even at a young age, but only unfold their full characteristics after a longer storage period. The Podere Rocche Dei Manzoni range consists of thirteen labels, ranging from the important Langhe reds to classic sparkling wines. The Barolos are no longer vinified as traditionally as they used to be but are now more modern. The Gambero Rossonoble drops of Rodolfo Migliorini are not infrequently 'Three glasses' excellent.
