About Castell`in Villa
Castell'in Villa is a medieval village dating back to 1200 when it was a community within the Sienese district. A delightful chapel located near the tower allows you to observe the characteristics of the medieval structure and the works of art. One of these works of art is an imposing bronze crucifix dating back to the first half of the 12th century and now temporarily preserved in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Besides being a country house, winemaking has long been the main focus of Castell'in Villa. The exceptional Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico and Riserva, the 'Santacroce and the typical Tuscan Vin Santo are all produced in Castell'in Villa where our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is also produced. The property covers an area of 298 hectares of which 54 hectares of vineyards and 32 hectares of olive groves. There are also crops and woods, and it is also a hunting ground for hare, pheasants and wild boars, which are then served in the restaurant with a panoramic terrace on the farm. Santacroce represents a perfect example of what is called a Super-Tuscan: it is the result of the mix of the best methods and ingredients, for local vinification, born from the great creativity of the winemaker; since the vinification method does not comply with the local regulations relating to the DOCG, the wine is classified as IGT Toscana
