About FRederic Magnien
Born in 1969, Fr d ric Magnien represents the fifth generation of vine-growers in his family. When he was 17, Fr d ric worked on the 10-hectares family estate in Morey-Saint-Denis with his father Michel Magnien. In order to deepen his knowledge, he decided to go working in Australia and California at the age of 22. After having discovered new technologies, he came back to France for the 1993 harvest. Then, he went to the University of Dijon where he obtained a diploma in oenology. In September 1995, Fr d ric created his own wine-merchant activity called FREDERIC MAGNIEN with the goal of differentiating the two activities of vine-grower and the winemaker. Fr d ric Magnien does not own any vineyard. He essentially works as an adviser to vine-growers with whom he works in very close collaboration during the whole year. He selects the best plots, mainly of old vines, over 40 years, and buys very high-quality grapes at perfect ripeness among the best appellations in the C te de Nuits, C te de Beaune, and Chablis areas. Furthermore, Fr d ric and his team run all the different stages of harvest, vinification, aging, bottling, and shipping. His goal in the coming years is to incite vine-growers to turn to organic culture in order to improve the quality of the soils. Nowadays, Fr d ric Magnien has become one of the most famous names in the C te de Nuits region. His philosophy is to work in harmony with the natural elements according to the seasons and the lunar cycle.
