About Schafer Frohlich

The Sch fer-Fr hlich family has a long tradition of growing grapes. The great crus that are part of the estate, characterized by the extraordinary variety of the subsoil, together with the vineyards that have grown there for over 50 years, lay the foundations for the production of unmistakable wines with an authentic character. Those who expect Riesling with a strong and persuasive fruit will rarely have immediate luck. To find these elements in the Rieslings of this winery, in fact, it is necessary to wait years. Tim Fr hlich knows the art of giving life to personal wines linked to the terroir, with an unlimited expressiveness and a deep minerality, sometimes dark. It has been a member of the VDP since 2001 and produces dry and sweet wines from estate vineyards. Sch fer-Fr hlich is best known for its Grosses Gew chs wines from top sites, as well as its noble sweet wines. The estate covers 19 hectares of vineyards, including land in the Bockenauer Felseneck, Schlossb ckelheimer Felsenberg and Monzinger Halenberg vineyards. These are planted primarily to Riesling, as well as some Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and M ller-Thurgau. The majority of Sch fer-Fr hlich's wines are dry, with only around 30 percent of production vinified sweet. The wines are spontaneously fermented using indigenous yeasts, in a mix of stainless steel and oak.
