About Keller
Weingut Keller is an esteemed German wine producer located in the Rheinhessen in the municipality of Fl rsheim-Dalsheim. The estate's origins date back to 1789 when Johann Leonhard Keller acquired property at the esteemed Hubacker vineyard a classified Erste Lage by the VDP. The family-owned and operated business has been managed by Klaus Peter Keller since 2001. The estate is best known for its range of critically acclaimed Riesling wines, and in particular, its dry bottlings, led by G-Max Riesling. This is produced from low-yielding, old vines and has received top scores from several critics. It is one of the most expensive dry Riesling wines in the world. Riesling and Sp tburgunder are sourced from some of the top vineyards in the Rheinhessen including Grosses Gew chs from Hubacker and B rgel in Dalsheim and the Kirchspiel, Morstein, and Abtserde vineyards in Westhofen. The estate is famously linked to the Hubacker vineyard four hectares (10 acres) of the property have remained in the Keller family for 10 generations. The site faces south and south-east on a slope composed of limestone and marl soils. Allow the grapes to macerate on their skins for thirty or forty hours before pressing them and running off the juice to fuder for fermentation. Oldest plantings of Riesling at this parcel date to 1974. The white wines now are fermented more in old oak fuder, rather than in stainless steel and indigenous yeasts are relied upon whenever possible for the fermentations.
