About Georg Breuer

The Georg Breuer winery, founded in 1880, has been owned by the Breuer family since the beginning of the last century. Georg Breuer, to whom the company owes its current name, further expanded its exports and goods. His sons Heinrich and Bernhard Breuer and Bernhard's daughter Theresa eventually expanded the vineyards to 34 hectares at the best locations in R desheimer and Rauenthaler. Since the early 1980s, the winery was able to gain international recognition thanks to the vision and work of Bernhard Breuer. Today, it is led by Theresa Breuer and Operations Manager Hermann Schmoranz, with the support of Butler Markus Lund n. 34 hectares of vineyards are cultivated in R desheim (27ha) and Rauenthal (7ha) in Rheingau, including 62% of the steep slopes. The grape varieties they grow are 81% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir, 4% Pinot Gris, 5% Pinot Blanc, Orl ans, and Heunisch. The date of harvest by selective hand picking is therefore always determined by the highest physiological ripeness and perfect health of the grapes. This results in the perfect balance, aromas, and structure which are more important to us than the must weight. Extract and depth have priority to yields. We believe in traditional artisan methods of vinification. Conscious of our commitment to protect the environment we implement natural methods of viticulture. Accordingly, we reduce yields to an average of 42 hl/ha, diversify from single-crop farming methods and use seasonal grass cover. Instead of using chemical fertilizer, we plant leguminous plants, which produce and regulate Nitrogen.
