About Joh. Jos. Prum
Pr m is one of the names of family sagas that are inextricably linked to the history of viticulture in the Moselle area of Germany. As a winery, Pr m was formed in the 17th century with Sebastien Alois Pr m at the helm. They say that it was his brother Jodocus who built the famous sundials (sonnenuhr) that today can still be seen in the payments and that take their name from him (from the watch): Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr. Mythical icons today. In 1911, the grandson of Sebastien Alois, Johann Josef Pr m is the one who inherits the winery that today we know as J.J. Pr m, leaving part of the domain in the hands of another family branch that currently subsists under the name of SA Pr m. Today it is Johann Josef's grandson, Dr. Manfred Pr m who is in command of the domain. Manfred, a winemaker by profession, continues to produce the classic range of wines from the plots in the towns of Wehlen and Zeltingen (as well as Graach and Bernkastel). The estate has 14 hectares of properties in Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube, and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr. Only the Riesling is grown and harvested on these sites by Joh. Jos. Pr m. The most important of these sites are Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Graacher Himmelreich, both in terms of quantity and quality for the winery. 70% of the vines are unobstructed. Depending on the harvest, the annual production is 10,000 to 13,000 cases of wine
