About Chateau Hosanna
In early 1999, the tablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix bought a property in Pomerol called Ch teau Certan-Giraud. The property consisted of two completely different parcels; the plot located on the elevated part of the property was renamed Ch teau Hosanna; the other parcel, located in the lower part, was put up for sale and nowadays it no longer belongs to the Moueix family. Situated in the centre of the Pomerol plateau, Ch teau Hosanna rests among the appellation's most famous properties: Ch teau Lafleur to the north, Ch teau P trus to the east, and Vieux Ch teau Certan and Ch teau Certan de May to the south. The Jean-Pierre Moueix Etablissements immediately concentrated their efforts on the vineyard. In the spring of 1999, two wells almost 7 meters deep were dug to remove excess water and improve the natural drainage of the property. The distinctive feature of Ch teau Hosanna is the significant amount of Cabernet Franc over 40 years old found in 30% of the vineyard, the remainder being the typical Merlot from Pomerol. The soil is beautiful reddish gravel with patches of clay. Ch teau Hosanna produces wines that blend elegance with depth. Its heavy soil and its large percentage of Cabernet should produce a wine in the style of La Conseillante or Cheval Blanc. With a more delicate side, it could become a feminine version of P trus.
