About Trimbach
Trimbach is one of the oldest wineries in the French wine region of Alsace, dating back to 1626. Located in Ribeauville, it is surrounded by limestone- and fossil-rich vineyards protected by the Vosges Mountains. Trimbach is known for its wines made from Riesling, and in particular, the one made from the small Clos Sainte Hune vineyard, which is considered one of the finest Alsatian expressions of the grape. The house has been in the Trimbach family for centuries, but it wasn't until 1898 when Fr d ric Emile Trimbach received the highest distinction for his wines at the International Wine Fair in Brussels that the wines of Maison Trimbach began to attract attention. In 1920, Fr d ric Th odore, his son, moved the family business to Ribeauville to make way for expansion. The house is still located there today under the leadership of the 12th and 13th generations: Hubert Trimbach, his daughter Anne and his nephews Jean and Pierre. The portfolio covers a range of styles, but dry, age-worthy wines with great minerality are Trimbach's specialty. Trimbach has plots in several grand cru vineyards, including Geisberg and Osterberg. The most important plot, however, is the walled Clos Sainte Hune vineyard, which lies within the larger Rosacker Grand Cru vineyard in the village of Hunawihr. Produce a wine with outstanding levels of intensity, concentration and minerality, and the ability to age for many years. Even though this wine comes from a grand cru vineyard, it is not labeled as such; Trimbach has shunned the title in favour of the prestigious Clos Sainte Hune name.
