About Elio Altare

A family-run business, Altare relocated from Dogliani to la Morra in where they bought a farm made up of 5 hectares of nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto vineyards. Elio sought to re-establish the family business, learning and exploring from other regions producing quality wines. After overcoming many obstacles, Elio was able to reinvigorate the business bringing new innovative techniques to winemaking, and consequently, making a turnover of 70,000 bottles per year, and adding another 5 hectares of vineyard. A hands-on owner, Elio and his family continue to work the vineyards and use natural malolactic fermentation, keeping the wine as pure to the grape from the region as possible.
