About Domaine Pierre Damoy
Pierre Damoy has been in charge of this prestigious estate since 1992. He operates the largest individually owned area of the famous Grand Cru Clos de B ze (more than 5 hectares, part of which is reserved for trading), which allows him to proceed with strict selections for its bottling, and to present two cuv es. Its other strong point: a very old vineyard in Chapelle-Chambertin, softer and more tender than its own Chambertin. Viticulture has been reasoned for many years, without the addition of fertilizers. The estate produces classic, fairly powerful wines which, over the past few vintages, have better reflected the expression of the terroirs. The wines: we tasted the 2017 range again. A savory profile in vigorous red burgundy, with large and fresh fruit, the size of which is equivalent to that of a beautiful gevrey. A dense frame in the fixin, a robust and a little harsh wine, which has closed since last year, but whose balance, the purity of fruit and flavors bode well for a happy evolution. Deep substance, firm build and earthy sap in Gevrey Clos Tamisot, a muscular and lively wine that will be left to age for a few more years. Powerful profile, all in muscle, energetic and licorice in the chapel, very marked by black fruits, with a lot of generosity. Deep and consistent wine, Chambertin offers a very precise definition of the vintage, with mineral and spicy flavors, a little wild, and very persistent.
