About Col Solare
Col Solare was born from the joint venture between the American Chateau Ste. Michelle and Marchesi Antinori, to whom we owe much of the philosophy of the project starting from the name of the wine. The joint intent is to fully experience the potential of Columbia Valley, located in the hills of Washington State, in the north-west of the United States. An ambitious project that of Col Solare, which includes the completion, by 2006, of an ad hoc cellar for this wine, with a production potential raised to 180,000 bottles per year. Even from a technical point of view, Col Solare is the son of 'two fathers': Doug Gore, winemaker of Chateau Ste. Michelle and Renzo Cotarella, general manager of Antinori. The 1998 version, which was released in 2002, has a tendentially sweet olfactory profile, in which the ripe fruit, morello cherry and blackberry in particular, is accompanied by pleasant hints of sponge cake. The impact in the mouth is also sweet, with well-resolved tannins, contrasted by a marked acidity, which makes a long and intense finish energetic. The wine is distributed in Italy by Marchesi Antinori.
