About Arnaldo Caprai
Arnaldo Caprai Winery, founded in 1971, has since been the leader in the production and recovery of the Sagrantino di Montefalco grape. The Sagrantino grape has been growing in the region of Montefalco for more than 400 years but was lost over time with little production before 1971. Marco Caprai strongly believed in the great opportunities that could come from such a long tradition and he translated this history into a wonderful product using a modern and innovative approach. Thanks to research, and long-term experimentation, Caprai is producing top-quality, elegant wines that uniquely express the terroir of Montefalco. In each bottle of wine, one can taste the physical labor, Umbrian landscape, and Montefalcan tradition that uniquely de?ne the aroma, taste, and appearance of the Sagrantino grape. The wine of Arnaldo Caprai expresses only the best and most authentic qualities of the region and the Sagrantino grape. A variety of methods are used to obtain top quality grapes, including but not limited to di-erent types of experimental training systems, various methods of cover cropping, and reduced use of nitrogen fertilizers. With the careful selection for the most suitable location for Sagrantino and all the varieties grown on the estate, attention to detail has proved to be key in producing quality. They are working to make excellent wines that will mirror the tradition and uphold the identity of the region of Montefalco at national and international levels. The Company estate extends for about 150 hectares (370 acres) 136 of which are currently in production.
