About Vina Aquitania

Vi a Aquitania is located at the foot of the Andes, the sector east of Santiago, in the Valle del Maipo Alto. In 1984 Bruno Prats and Paul Pontallier well-known Agronomists and winemakers in the region of Bordeaux, France, start looking in Chile for a high-quality terroir to create an original and unique vineyard. They partnered with a mutual friend, Felipe de Solminihac, Agronomist and Chilean Winemaker of French origin. Located at the foot of the Andes, the Quebrada de Macul , is in the historic heart of the Maipo Valley. The first plantations were vines with Bordeaux origin that had been present in Chile since the late nineteenth century. A climatic zone of good solar exposure with significant temperature variation, without reaching extremes, no rain at the time of maturity and the harvest of grapes, along with the possibility of watering in the growing season makes this place a great terroir. Terroir. The 18 hectares. of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in the piedmont of the Andes, at an altitude of 700 meters. and density of 4,000 p / ha, trellised with four wires. The clean and healthy environment limits treatments to the foliage, only the application of sulphur is used for Oidium. The vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines on a red clay soil, rich in organic matter where the vine has all the elements for good development and balanced production of high quality.
