About Condado de Haza
Familia Fern ndez Rivera planted the first vineyards in 1987. They did so on the banks of the Douro River, on land that has now become a legend. At present, Condado de Haza has 200 hectares of vineyards with 100% Tempranillo, the trademark grape of all four wineries of Familia Fern ndez Rivera. To perfect its wines all made using Tempranillo the structure of this winery was designed by digging a hill. The four bodegas that comprise Alejandro Fern ndez s wine legacy, and constitute Grupo Pesquera, share a passion for winemaking that has perfected over time. The strong bond to this great winemaker s homeland is also reflected in the group emblem: the symbolic Archway and Tower of Pesquera de Duero, the characteristic label on his mythical Tinto Pesquera wines. Numerous awards endorse our wines; awards reaped throughout our 40 years of experience in winemaking. It is, without doubt, a dream come true for Alejandro Fern ndez whose maxim was always to own a bodega and make fine wines. Today it could be said that reality has surpassed the dream and that Alejandro, his bodegas, and his wines have earned worldwide recognition and appreciation. Since 1993 this bodega has been producing its classy wines after the bodega s structure was re-designed so that the estate was perfect for the win-making process, with an ageing room with 3,000 new barrels and wine racks in a 200m tunnel some 30m deep underneath the vineyard, to maintain the ideal natural temperature and humidity for storing wine.
