About Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is a German wine producer located in the Mosel Valley. It is one of the most traditional in the region and has a wide range of top vineyard holdings in the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer. Kesselstatt is well known for its dry Kabinett and Sp tlese Riesling wines as well as its Trockenbeerenauslese from the esteemed Piesporter Goldtr pfchen vineyard. The estate has a history spanning more than 650 years the first record of a purchased vineyard dates back to 1349. Many of its top vineyard plots were purchased between 1854 and 1889. Since 1978, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt has been owned by the Reh family and is currently run by second-generation family member Annegret Reh-Gartner. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt owns 12 hectares (30 acres) each in the Saar, Ruwer, and Mosel regions. The vineyards are planted on steep, south-facing slopes composed of stony, slate soils, and are planted entirely to Riesling. Kesselstatt has plots in several famous vineyards, including Josephsh fer, Bernkasteler Doctor, Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, Piesporter Goldtr pfchen, and Wehlener Sonnenuhr in the Mosel; Scharzhofberger and Wiltinger Gottesfuss in the Saar; and Kaseler Nies'chen in the Ruwer. Fittingly, the wines are fermented with natural yeasts adding to their individuality and fragrance and kept on lees for extended ageing. The estate is a member of the VDP and follows production criteria laid out by the association. The winery is considered one of the Mosel's best large-scale wineries, producing an expansive wine portfolio with dry, sweet, and sparkling wines ranging in quality levels.
